Put Your Signature On It - A signature drink always adds a nice touch to an event and makes your party memorable. It also makes managing your bar easier because you can pre-pour the cocktail or guests can serve themselves. You should consider making a signature cocktail and a "mocktail" without alcohol so guests who don’t drink also feel special.
Make it an Elegant Engagement - Long stem flowers in a tall clear glass vase add a simple but elegant touch to any event. Place flowers in the center of the dining table or on an occasional table in the entrance or main room.
Set the Mood - When considering music for an event determine if you’d like a DJ or if you prefer to create a playlist on your I-Pod and plug it into a sound system in your home. Also note that music is generally background at the beginning of a party but as the evening progresses people tend to get a bit more relaxed and may like to dance if your venue has space enough to do so. If so, organize your playlist accordingly.
Alcohol Made Easy - If you are ordering large quantities of alcohol many stores will deliver and also provide ice. Always inquire whether you can return unused unopened alcohol.
The Set Up - Many items can be set up the day before if you don't plan on using the area in your home where the event will be held. You can place serving trays on the table and determine where you would like each food item in order to ensure the best flow for the buffet. Then place post-it notes in the empty platters with the name of each item you would like to place in that space.
